Ukraine is a single-ethnic state with a multi-ethnic population composition. It is the state of this nation both in the ethnic and political sense.

These people are the so-called “titular ethnic group”, whose name formed the name of the state. According to the last census, the share of Ukrainians was almost 78%, which is about 37.5 million people. The other part of the residents is representatives of multiple ethnic and national minorities.

In this article, we will talk about the race of Ukrainian women, their distinctiveness and features, and discuss the reasons why men from all over the world are so concerned about Ukrainian wives.

Origins of the Ukrainian people

To answer the question about the Ukrainian women race, we have to take a few steps back in history.

Ukrainians are an indigenous (original) nation, which was formed on the basis of the inhabitants that have been permanently residing on these lands since ancient times. The ancestors of these people are Trypillians, who lived on the lands between the Dniester and Dnieper rivers 3.5 - 2 thousand years B.C., and the early Slavs who lived in the forest and forest-steppe belts and, later, the Carpathians. Slavic tribes (Dulibs, Glades, Drevlyans, Northerners, Tivertsi, Ulichi) were engaged in agriculture and led a settled way of life.

They became the origin of the Ukrainian population. Despite the constant invasions of nomads and borrowing some features of the other peoples’ culture, the Ukrainians have retained their national uniqueness. Over time, the region of their formation and residence (ethnic territory) expanded due to the settlement and economic growth of the steppe spaces.

Many historians believe that Ukrainians come from a single ancient Slavic people, along with other Slavic peoples, which then broke up into separate ethnic groups. Between the 12th and 15th centuries, the Ukrainian nation was formed on the basis of the peoples who lived on the territory of Kievan Rus.

The people who settled these lands were periodically attacked by the Turks and Mongols, who forced them out of there.

Then, these regions were repopulated. After the collapse of Kyivan Rus, these lands were part of the grand duchy of Lithuania, the Rzeczpospolita. Later, they were divided by the Russian and Austrian states. Some of the lands belonged to the Tatar Mongols for some time. All these people have influenced the culture and anthropology of Ukrainians.

The ethnic composition of Ukrainian population

The historical circumstances of the development of Ukraine contributed to the creation of a multi-ethnic population composition with most Ukrainians.

Romanians, Hungarians, Moldovans, as well as Crimean Tatars were representatives of other indigenous peoples who have lived in these ethnic territories for ages. They ended up as part of Ukraine as a result of the state delimitation.

The ancient populations within the local region are also Greeks, Karaites, and Krymchaks living in the Crimea.

Representatives of many other peoples belong to those who appeared on the Ukrainian lands since the Middle Ages (Jews, Armenians, Poles, Lithuanians, Germans, Tatars, and Russians), and during the following periods (colonization of the Ukrainian steppes by immigrants from the Balkan Peninsula — Gagauz, Albanians, Serbs, Bulgarians); resettlement of immigrants from the countries of the former USSR and the present time (students, refugees and labor migrants from Asia and Africa).

The largest share of Ukrainians is presented in the populace of Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk (more than 97.5%), and Volyn (almost 97%) regions.

Pay attention to these numbers:

  • Ukrainians - 77.8;
  • Russians - 17.2;
  • Moldovans - 0.5;
  • Belarusians - 0.5;
  • Crimean Tatars - 0.5.

Bulgarians, Hungarians, Romanians, Poles, Jews, Armenians, Greeks, Tatars, and Gypsies make up a smaller part of the Ukrainian people.

Language

Ukrainians speak Ukrainian, and the vast majority also knows Russian well. In Ukrainian, there are three dialects, that are distinguished on a territorial basis:

  • Northern, influenced by Belarusians;
  • Western, shaped under the influence of Poles, Slovaks, Romanians, and Hungarians;
  • Northeastern, formed under the influence of the Russian language.

Appearance

Anthropologically, Ukrainians belong to the Caucasoid Adriatic (Dinaric) race. Some scientists find racial differences within an ethnic group and divide them into 3 types:

  • Ukrainian;
  • Volyn;
  • Galicia-Podolsky.

The representatives of these types can be distinguished by the difference in height, color of eyes and hair.

Other scientists clearly divide the Ukrainian people into 2 main types: Adriatic (predominant in the south of the country) and Alpine.

But most ethnographers do not find significant differences and speak of the uniformity of features in the populace. The main population of Ukraine, along with Belarusians, Russians, and Poles, has a typical appearance of the Slavic peoples. They are distinguished by the above-avarage height and good physique.

Ukrainian women have always been famous for their beautiful shapes. Ladies of this nationality commonly have fair hair and light eyes, but in some areas, there are black-haired and brown-eyed women. Ukrainian girls are slender beauties with cheerful smiles, kind hearts and open souls; they are remarkably hard-working and patient, very independent but family-oriented.

That is why men from all over the world dream of dating Ukrainian woman today. Another good news is that Ukrainian brides are completely open to meeting foreign men: their appearance, character, and originality attract local girls. Another plus is that these women have a mature spirit and most of them are ready to create a family, they know how to take care of their husband, and children, as well as keep the family hearth.
